Description: In honor of Black History Month, we will be honoring the life of Ama Woodsey Thomas. She grew up to be a beloved art teacher and had her first solo exhibit at the age of 75! Thomas became an important role model for women, African Americans, and older artists. She was the first African American woman to have a solo exhibition at New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art, and she exhibited her paintings at the White House three times.
Additional Info: This event is for elementary school aged children between 5-11 years old. Remember to dress for a mess and the weather! If needed, bring in an extra pair of shoes to wear around the studio. Full day campers please bring in a packed lunch, snack and water bottle. Half day campers…
