Due to the below zero temps and school being closed we will be turning up the heat at ARTrageous and celebrating Black History Month. Our featured artist will be Alma Woodsey Thomas as we look at her works of art and create art inspired by her bold and beautiful art style.

Description: Due to the below zero temps and school being closed we will be turning up the heat at ARTrageous and celebrating Black History Month by honoring the life of Ama Woodsey Thomas. She grew up to be a beloved art teacher and had her first solo exhibit at the age of 75! Thomas became an important role model for women, African Americans, and older artists. She was the first African American woman to have a solo exhibition at New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art, and she exhibited her paintings at the White House three times.
Additional Info: This event is for elementary school aged children between 5-11 years old. Remember to dress for a mess and the weather! If needed, bring in an extra pair of shoes to wear around the studio.…
